Board of Appeals

Responsibilities 

In general, the Board of Appeals shall have the power to interpret the provisions of any applicable Town Ordinance which are called into question, approve the issuance of a special exception permit or conditional use permit if it deems appropriate, and may grant requested property variances as stated in the Ordinance. The Board shall have the power to hear and determine all appeals by any person directly or indirectly affected by any decision, action or failure to act with respect to any Town Ordinance. Refer to the Board of Appeals Ordinance for specifics regarding scope, organization, powers and process. 

Board members serve terms of from three to five years and are appointed by the Select Board.
